From Charts To Coastal Approach ... Execute Your Passage Plan

Navigation with maritime simulation allows your students to plan and participate in simulated passage scenarios that include;

  • Assessment of Weather and Tides
  • Magnetic Variation
  • Timed legs to EP on heading and speed
  • Position fixing using visual references
  • Leading lines
  • Clearing lines
  • Transits
  • Buoyage (and potential pitfalls of buoy hopping)
  • Approach at night using navigation lights (cardinals, laterals, sectored)
  • Approach in fog using depth contours
  • Collision risk assessment and avoidance
  • Passage with dynamic tidal vectors

The simulation comes complete with accurate charts for virtual locations that have been specially created to support a comprehensive range of navigation and pilotage techniques.

GPS Display Option

The basic navigations instruments compass, speed over water and depth are displayed by default to support instruction on elementary navigation (student provides timekeeping). In addition the simulation includes the option to display GPS coordinates allowing position plotting on charts using latitude and longitude to be practiced. The GPS also displays speed over ground.

Real World Location Options

In addition to the virtual worlds provided we are able to produce real world locations for use with standard Hydrographic Office charts. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements and pricing.
